Yes, the idea of shortcuts comes basically from Opera. Serchilo’s advantages are:
- the shortcuts are saved online, so you have them everywhere, not only on your computer
- if a search engine link changes only one user has to fix it and all others do benefit from that
- Serchilo allows shortcuts with more arguments (db berlin, hamburg)
- Serchilo helps you while typing – you do not need to remember all shortcuts

Nice serch engine! But isn’t a kind of basic version of serchilo already included in opera? Ok, the opera included version might not be customizable (I just don’t know), but this is of course reducing the impact of serchilo.

Anyway, good to know…

Thanks for your nice description! There are also similar projects, but only Serchilo combines the following:All commands are stored in a wiki, so everybody may add or edit them.They are free as well.They can be defined with more arguments or with regular expressions, e.g. db berlin, hamburg, 12.00 or eur-czk 10. Users may define personalized commands and "overwrite" general commands with their own ones. You don't even need to go to the Serchilo homepage if you install the search plugin into your browser.
