Someone wants an invitation to Spock?

At the moment, I am testing Spock because I was invited by Shankar Ganesh but was unable to find his profile because simply too many Shankars on that site. Throug the tag “technology blogger” I could find him.

Hmm, Spock. It’s a big buzz at the moment but I am not convinced. It tries to connect the various profiles that you have on Social Networks, allows the import from Linkedin, Myspace and Friendster, but does not allow other popular networks, such as Xing or Facebook. In fact, once you have signed up it is impossible to import your contacts from Myspace and Friendster, so don’t forget to do that at the beginning.

And as always you can create tags about your persons, but you cannot import tags from your blog, you cannot import blogs at all and lots of other things. The general idea is nice, but other than that I am not really aroused by the webpage. The profile would need a lot of updating and I don’t know if I need another social network that just sits there and is not up-to-date.

An interesting feature is the tag page, it allows you to find people based on tags very quickly (find out more about it in their blog). Through search algorithms they have acquired quite a lot of information on all kinds of famous and infamous people – so Spock wants to be the centre point of all kinds of personal information and a better people search site than Google.

The big problem though is: sure there is lots of stuff of people on the web, maybe not all people want their stuff in a site like Spock. But if it’s to become the central search engine for people, it needs to offer the social network tools that for instance facebook offers.

Anyway, I have 101 invitations that I can send to people. Put your First Name, Last Name and your Email-Adress in the Comments to this Article, I’ll invite everyone who wants to.
