Harvard, St. Andrews, LSE – how would you decide?
In September 2007 I want to continue my education. I want to change my academic focus towards International Relations and I want to intensify my academic interests. Luckily, I was faced with choice, however it was a tough decision. Which program would you have chosen? If you were a student at LSE, Harvard or St. Andrews, would you make the same decision again? How was life, learning, researching, studying?
I have two offers of admission by three outstanding universities – St. Andrews University, Harvard University and London School of Economics. At St. Andrews I could study a Master in International Relations, at Harvard University I could study a Master in Regional Studies with a focus on Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. At the LSE I could study a Master in European Political Economy.
I have compiled a table comparing the three programmes. All three programs have their plus sides: Harvard would allow a more specific education focusing on one of my strongest interests (Russia), St. Andrews would allow me to develop other research interests as well, LSE would allow me to focus on European topics. St. Andrews is cheapest, LSE is situated in most interesting city on earth and Harvard offers better employment opportunities after gradudation. St. Andrews and LSE are closer to home and would allow me to spend time in Europe, Harvard would force me to concentrate hard on the academics. The quality and expertise of the lecturers and seminars are all excellent.
I will reveal my decision in four weeks.
