Elgg – open source social network
Through an email by Reto Stauss I discovered an open source social networking platform called Elgg.
It features a wide variety of social networking tools, such as Blogging, Profiling, Tagging, Communities etc. I have to convince my uncle to give it a try and installing it – sounds as if commercial solutions such as IBM Lotus Connections will not have an easy start into the market.

Elgg ist eine nette Software unter der GPL und deswegen schon zu bevorzugen gegenüber PHPizabi. Und im Gegensatz zu aroundme (GNU-Projekt) sieht die Community einfach größer aus, welches sich u.a. darin äußert, dass die Universität Brighton damit arbeitet.
Es muss zwar noch so einiges geklärt werden, aber unter http://nocoso.nord-west.eu/ soll ein freies soziales Netzwerk entstehen und wir sind über jede Hilfe dankbar. Natürlich ist die Adresse wie der Name NoSoCoNet (non commercial social network) erstmal fix aus der Luft gegriffen, aber mal gucken, wie sich alles entwickelt.
Sollte dies nun jemand lesen, der Interesse an Mitarbeit hat oder einfach nur durch Präsenz Position beziehen will, ist sie/er herzlich dazu eingeladen.
Name, Zielgruppe, AGBs, Finanzierung, Haftung uvm. müssen geklärt werden.
