I know three sites for exchanging books and other items on a person-to-person basis:

1. Hitflip

Hitflip works like this: people receive flips for their items based on the prices for these items. They can then use these flips to acquire other items but have to pay 0,99 Euro for each transaction.

2. Tauschticket

Tauschtickets works similiar to hitflip, for each offered item, you get a certain amount of tickets that can be used for more exchanges. The membership is free.

3. Bookcrossing

Bookcrossing works like this: people can assign a unique number to a book and then share the book with friends, strangers or leave the book unattended. Through the number, it can be shown where the book is and through the website people can directly exchange books.

What experiences have you made with these portals? Which one is the easiest and the most convenient to use?

PS By the way, I don’t get any money for this post and wouldn’t take any either, especially not from Hitflip.de or their investors the Samwer brothers. But I really would like to hear your experiences with these platforms.
